Movie review - How to train your dragon - 3D film

I think it is the time for 3D pictures. Avatar, Alice in wonderland, UP, Clash of the titans and now How to Train Your Dragon. Though Avatar is a class above, I think from the rest dragon score good marks though not very high.

How to Train Your Dragon is a wonderful motion picture. One of the best from Dreamworks' stable.

It is really funny, scary, and exciting too, the voice-over by Gerard Butler etc were really great. It's a visual delight. As family entertainment with those who has a kid at home or a kid in your heart as a motion picture, How to Train Your Dragon soars to great heights.

The film is about the adventures of Hiccup, the eleven-year-old son of a Viking chief, who must capture a dragon for a rite of passage. A group of 10 youths of the tribe are being trained by "Gobber " to perform their first military operation; to catch their own dragon. Those who are not able to catch and train a dragon are exiled from the tribe.

The Viking Chief “Stoik” really wants his son to be worthy of slaying dragons, where he sadly disappoints. Finally he manages to shoot one of the fire-breathing reptiles – which turned out to be the fiercest of the lot – the night fury - out of the sky. (Really cute one too – with a cute name – Toothless)

Later he found the dragon and he cannot bring himself to kill it. He notices the broken wing –tail of the dragon which prevents it to fly to sky. Thus begins his friendship with the dragon. A lot was awaiting since his father could not digest this and decides to slain all dragons nest.

The film’s actions scenes are a virtual treat reminding those of flight visuals of Avatar. It was so beautifully done, it felt like the spectators were flying with the boy and the dragons. It has moments of awe-inspiring terror too with fire breathing dragons filled the screen at few scenes.

Highly recommended for all kids from age 8 to 80 not because of story alone but because of the visual magic which will delight you at the end.

Last note: My 3 year old kid wants a Toothless dragon doll so badly now.
